Wood- or linocut

Woodcut/busy are high technique presses, what is not cut away, are printed. The high parts are therefore printed. This technique has already a very large history and is one of oldest graphic techniques.
Wood is a firm and tough material, however, in several types and hardness. Characteristic of woodcut  is the wood structure. All at its in principle suitable. Triplex, plywood or M.D.F. to be well use. Gentle at if battering or cherries wood also much are used. A another material is Linoleum what easier material is, gentle.
The drawing comes on screen actually on the plate, these go directly. This must consider you, however, well in advance, certainly with text! What you gone cut, stay away on paper to stand, there is none gone, is gone. What does not become has cut therefore a color.
Impressions on etching paper and Japanese/Chinese paper is usual.
In contrast to in former days there are woodcuts now many in several chromo type. For each color then a plate is necessary, one makes then a work closes. Another manner is the Picasso or suicide manner, then one continues work on one plate and remains nothing more of the plate, except the last color.
Working method:
Drawing makes on the plate with pours the lines and/or planes on the plate cuts away which on the impression blank/color must be/remain. What is not cut away gets a color remains.
Ink on the plate with role produce and print. There are special presses lino- and impression cut, this is possible also well on etching press. Another technique which is used, is with the spoon. One lays then the paper concerning the plate with ink and will with the convex side of a spoon, the ink in paper press.
